Living well at home with LumaLiving

Following a stroke, Miss H experienced changes to her eyesight and mobility. While she was already living independently in her Sanctuary home, she wanted to make sure she had the right support in place as she adjusted to these changes.

She was referred to Sanctuary’s wellbeing service after getting in touch with the repairs team alongside advice from her local authority’s Visual Impairment team. Together, they explored what would help her continue living comfortably and confidently in her own home.

Finding the right support

A member of the Sanctuary team visited Miss H to understand how she lived day to day and what mattered most to her. Rather than starting with equipment, the conversation focused on her routines, her independence and where additional support could be helpful.

LumaLiving was introduced as a practical way to stay connected to support, without disrupting how she lived. The system was demonstrated in her home, including test calls, so she could hear the response team and understand how everything worked before deciding to go ahead.

Miss H chose a wearable alarm and a key safe. This combination supported her independence, allowing her to continue spending time in her garden and going out with her dogs, while knowing she could easily reach support if she needed it. The equipment was installed during the same visit, with all details checked together.

Support that fits around everyday life

Since using LumaLiving, Miss H has found the service straightforward and supportive. When she has used the alarm, the response team have remained on the line with her and coordinated next steps as needed. Emergency services and her chosen contacts are informed appropriately, ensuring support is well managed and joined up.

The key safe has also been helpful, allowing access to her home when required without inconvenience or delay.

Building confidence and independence

For Miss H, LumaLiving has supported her to feel more confident in her own space. Having a clear, reliable way to reach help has enabled her to continue with everyday activities she enjoys, without needing to hold back or change how she lives.
